Lightroom Android Application Basic Tutorial – Lightroom is one of the best photo editing applications on Android, but you still need to know the basics of the Lightroom application to be able to make cool edits. Because no matter how sophisticated the application is used, the result is still determined by how well you understand how to use the application. Fortunately, the Lightroom Android app is not as complicated as the PC version. Where you need to understand color curves, lighting, and so on.

Whereas in the Android version of the application, the curve is used less often because there is a much simpler slider available. Well, on this occasion, let's learn together about the basic tutorial for the Lightroom Android application by discussing the available tools.

Lightroom Android Application Basic Tools

The tools provided in the Lightroom Android application and the PC version are not much different. The tools in both versions also have more or less the same function.

That's why Lightroom Android is considered very helpful for photographers and editors who want to quickly edit their raw photos. Well, here is a tutorial of some of the basic tools of the Lightroom application that you need to learn.

Crop

A crop is a tool used to crop and separate certain parts of a photo. Usually, the crop feature can be used in the form of a box, circle, or free shape.

The part of the photo that goes into the shape of a box or circle will be left. While the part that is outside the shape or shape will be deleted and discarded.

The crop is useful when you want to remove certain objects in the photo or want to adjust the composition of the photo to make it look more attractive.

Auto

Then there's Auto, the basic tool of the Lightroom app that's helpful when you want to edit photos quickly. Because as the name implies, with this one tool you can immediately get photo edits automatically that are adjusted to the light and vibe conditions in the photo.

Sometimes, the results are not so good. But because it can be completed quickly, there is no harm in using this tool only occasionally.

Light

Light is a tool used to adjust the lighting in photos. When you slide the Light slider to the right, the photo will be brighter. On the other hand, the photo will get darker when you move the slider to the left.

Exposure

Next, there is the Exposure tool. Almost the same as Light, this one tool also regulates lighting in photos. However, if Light controls how bright the photo is overall, Exposure adjusts how bright the white aka light is in the photo.

Contrast

Another tool that adjusts lighting is Contrast. This tool adjusts how dense or contrasting white with black is. That is, this tool is used to adjust the contrast between the shadows and light in the photo.

Highlights

Highlights are the basic tools of the Lightroom application that are used to adjust the brightest parts of a photo. When you move the Highlight slider to the right, the main light source in the photo gets brighter.

Shadow

Shadow is also part of the tool that adjusts the lighting. However, this tool only adjusts how dark and light the shadows appear in your photo. The more you slide to the left, the darker the part of the photo that is not exposed to light.

White & Black

As the name implies, this one tool is used specifically to adjust white and black in your photos. If the White & Black slider is shifted to the right, the white color in the photo becomes more dominant. Meanwhile, if it is shifted to the left, then the black color will be more dominant.

However, this one tool can also affect the brightness of other colors in your photo.

Color

Next comes the part of the most difficult part of the basic Lightroom application, which is Color. As the name implies, this tool is used to adjust the color composition or color grading in your photos. The Colors menu itself usually consists of:

  • Temperature, to set the color warmer (warm) or cold (cold)
  • Tint, to set the dominance of a certain color
  • Vibrance, to adjust the color vibrancy in the photo
  • Saturation, to adjust color sharpness

For this part of the tools, you will need to experiment to find out what settings work best for each photo. Because the color setting can affect the atmosphere or mood in your photo.

For example, if you want to make a photo of a mountain landscape look cooler, then change the temperature to a cooler one. That way the color of the photo will be more bluish.

Such is the basic tutorial of the Lightroom Android application that you can learn. Please try each tool to understand what it does and when it should be used.
